Now THIS is how a young band is supposed to operate! You put out songs that continue to evolve your sound until you get to the point where each and every slab of new music you release gets referred to as “Their best to date!” from fans and critics alike! Do you see where we’re going with this? We’d like to think we’ve mostly hit the ground running since Atlanta Fetish-forward Dark-Electrowave duo K3YP4RTY has started releasing music and think it’s safe to say that that statement is exactly it for us, too. Because, after May’s “IMASLUT”, we were of the mind that there was no, ahem, topping that track. But here we are. About to type out how absolutely stunned we are at their latest.
“MANTRA” is the one that all that glaze up top was about and it is peak K3YP4RTY. When we started covering the band we compared them to artists like Lords Of Acid, Die Antwoord and Night Club but we’re happy to point out that as of right now, the only artist they’re comparable to is themselves. It’s just all about K3YP4RTY. An absolute banger of a club track and an absolute banger of a track in the Electro/Darkwave genre, “MANTRA” pushes the K3YP4RTY banger-making (Last time we’re typing “Banger” here. Promise.) limits so hard that listeners might need a safe word because it gets that intense.
Acadia Grey’s vocal flow is so on point and infectious immediately while Asher Grey is absolutely commanding during the pre-choruses and choruses which together makes for such a dominating performance that one might think the duo have experience outside of music in that area specifically (Spoiler alert: They do). Sonically, it’s big beats and big synths in a constant state of winding up for a big pay off that’s more than worth the price of admission.
