Boston’s Charming Arson champion this kind of time displaced sound that teeters a fine line somewhere between ’80’s Pop Rawk, ’90’s Alternative and the Mid-Aughts Brit Rawk resurgence. It shouldn’t make sense but in the capable hands of David Cameron (Lead vocals, Rhythm Guitar), Stefano Bellezza (Lead guitar, Keys, Backing Vocals), Aaron Clark (Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals) and Dave Gould (Percussion, Backing Vox) it all does.
Especially on latest single “The Wednesday of my discontent”. And it’s all thrown at listeners at once from the moment Bellezza’s riffs enter with some timeless strummin’ which then opens up into some pure Pop Rawk perfection as Cameron’s swoonin’ croon mesh with the Gould/Clark start/stop shuffle laying a foundation throughout. As an aside, and as a child of the ’80’s, not enough songs lately take the time to let guitar solos really shine anymore, y’know? You don’t know? Well, that’s easy to understand because if you just listened to “The Wednesday…” then you know that CA definitely set aside some space for just that. Which we appreciate. Because RAWK!
