There are some artists we admire so much that it causes us to meticulously edit and re-edit, read and re-read everything typed (Again, editing) and, despite wanting a timely timetable to post, it ends up taking too long to the point that when we have something ready to go the next shiny thing is almost here. In this case, we’ve got our belated review of the debut single off Buick Audra’s new solo album Adult Child called “Questions for the Gods of Human Behavior” as second single “Yellow” is just about to arrive. And to that we say: Welp!
Anyway! Is 2025 the year of Buick Audra? It could be! There’s not only a new Friendship Commanders record tentatively on the way (With live shows happening around now) but also a brand new solo album from co-Friend Buick Audra and the first taste of all that begins with single “Questions for the Gods of Human Behavior” ahead of the LP, Adult Child, which arrives on June 13th.
It’s not Friendship Commanders-sounding (Although fellow Friend, Jerry Roe, plays drums here), that’s for sure! And it’s actually not Buick Audra-sounding either when looking at previous outings. To us, airs of Fleetwood Mac and early Sheryl Crow jump out of the gorgeous sonic tapestry that Audra has exquisitely woven here for a kind of Alterna-Americana feel. And with all Audra’s writings both on the page and on sheet music, “Questions for the Gods of Human Behavior” is as thought-provoking as it is introspective as Audra recounts, per the press release, “ways she has tried to be seen and known by others, and wonders if the abandonment she has long tried to avoid is something she participates in.”
If “Questions for the Gods of Human Behavior” is even an inkling of what’s to come on the rest of the upcoming full-length then both fans of FC and of Audra’s are in for a real treat especially with a stellar cast of musicians including Lex Price on bass, Kris Donegan on additional guitars and the aforementioned Roe on drums assembled for most of Adult Child.
“Questions for the Gods of Human Behavior” is out now through Trimming The Shield Records and you can get your copy through all of your favorite DSP’s when you head here then head here (Or to the stream below) for the “Questions for the Gods of Human Behavior” official video and to pre-order/pre-save Adult Child ahead of its’ June 13th release!
