Singles! Damndest, “My Heaven”

Damndest make our kind of music. The kind that’s Synth flavored, anthemic, driving, and just all around moving. It’s a kind of modern Shoegaze Post-Rawk in the vein of Tombstones in Their Eyes mixed with Bear In Heaven’s sparkling Electro tendencies and Telekinesis’ brand of Indie anthem-making. And we dig it a lot. July’s “The Blight” certainly embodied that sound and with new release “My Heaven” it seems as if the Boston-based band has expanded into some unexplored sonic territories for a vibrant entry into Damndest’s growing gallery of shimmering songs.

“My Heaven”, in contrast to “The Blight”, is more a more a mover with Frankie Hardy’s big drum sounds propelling the track along and Timothy O’Keefe’s synth work here practically bouncing off the beats to provide Michael Taggart a wonderful playground in which to deliver some inspired vocals accompanied by O’Keefe and Alana Sacks that leads to a memorable mesmerizing chorus. “My Heaven” also benefits from being one of those tracks that reveals more layers the more you listen. From the different vocal melodies to O’Keefe’s lead guitar stylings and Taggart’s bass mojo, there’s no end to what listeners might find upon diving deeper in and with a song like “My Heaven” that’s something to be encouraged.

“My Heaven” descends on August 23rd and you can head here to make sure you do all the pre-whatevreing ahead of the release date.
