Being the pioneers of the Boston Bossy Bubblegrunge Bangers movement, Darling Effigy is already more than a band. They’re also a sonic force of nature and on their debut release… Wait, did we read that right? “Hysterical” is their FIRST song out across the internets?!? There’s no way. This sounds more like the launch for a second or third record or something but if this is what we’re being told we’ll run with it.
Anyway! Tapping into the core definition of the word “Hysterical” (Look it up!) and running with it, the Boston trio bring their signature triple “B” sound to the people on an empowering anthem that magically melds Punk, Riot Grrrl and Grunge together wonderfully (Think Old School Ceremony meets War On Women as a starting point). Then, at the crux of “Hysterical”, you have the wry words that build the verses and choruses with an equal amount of snark and snarl to complete a pristine package that’s sure to garner new fans and keep the ones already enamored by their live performances coming back for more.
