What is this gorgeous juxtaposition of noises emanating from our speakers at this instant??? The vocals are abrasive, angry, and impassioned while the sounds backing it up are reminiscent of modern Post-Punk with a heavy leaning on the “Punk” aspect bringing to mind Eagulls or Holograms.
If you read that bit and said “Why, that’s Los Angeles’ own Gottlieb!” then we owe you a cookie! Or a high five! Or… something. But if you didn’t guess that right away then you’re forgiven as Gottlieb is relatively new to the scene. But Bah Gahd! are they making themselves known. And fast!
“Pipe Bomb” is their latest song, the first ahead of debut LP The Far Fallen Fruit (More on that below), and the track in question that spurred on the opening paragraph dissertation. Vocalist Andrew Pescara is a unique voice in modern Punk backed by an incendiary instrumental backdrop built by Dylan Marquez (Bass), Dave Chessey (Drums) and Mike Carnarius (Guitar) on a track that’s insightful, inciteful and definitely up there as a contender for 2026 “Earwom of the Year” (Not a real thing).
“Pipe Bomb” is out now through Quiet Panic ahead of debut full-length The Far Fallen Fruit which arrives on May 1st.
