Singles! Jennifer Tefft & The Strange, “Salt And The Sea”

One of the cool things about, ahem, covering a cover song is when we come across one that we’re not very familiar with in the first place giving us essentially two new tracks to check out. That happened recently when Jennifer Tefft & The Strange’s version of “Salt And The Sea” came our way presenting a different side of the song originally appearing on The Lumineers’ 2019 album III.

While fitting in nicely with the aesthetic of their last full-length release, Strange Beginnings, this “bonus track” if you will might also shed some light of what’s to come from Tefft & The Strange with a new batch of original music slated to make its’ way to anticipating earholes sometime in 2026! In the right now, though, JT &TS’s “Salt And The Sea” is haunting and hopeful spurred on by a continuous bass and drum rumble out of Stephen “Sharky” Beccia and Tim Provost’s respective instruments with some pointed plucking out of John Parrillo’s guitar and soloing straight out of some classic Tears For Fears jams (That lush breakdown in “Shout”, which is one of the greatest of its’ kind, came to mind upon first listen). Then there’s Tefft’s voice here which is effervescent, acting in contrast to Wesley Schultz’s more subdued approach in the original performance making the Jennifer Tefft & The Strange experience an illuminating one.

“Salt And The Sea” as performed by Jennifer Tefft & The Strange drops on November 6th and you can make sure you get your own copy the instant it hits the streams by heading here or here.
