Are we seriously coming to that part in the story where we have, in fact, reached enough nice things to say about Other Brother Darryl?!?!? Well, of course not. We wouldn’t be doing our jobs all proper like if we couldn’t come up with more ways to wax poetic on the glory that is new music from OBD! Thesauruses are a thing, people! And they come in especially handy when talking about their newest single, “Take It With You”.
If you’re feeling a special kind of electricity in the air lately when it comes to any news related to ODB then you’re not alone as the trek towards Other Brother Darryl’s highly anticipated second LP is a particularly exciting time, more so when any of that new news is in regards to the release of music. Which is definitely the case here with “Take It With You”!
Building off the momentum of “Peaceful Alibi”, “Take It With You” sees the gang spinning an upbeat jam for a kind of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers/The Traveling Wilburys affair but way more expansive with everything from Alternative Rawk to Folk to Indie to Southern Blues/Soul to Country under the OBD umbrella. With the spiritual guidance of the departed but never forgotten Dave Mirabella ever present, the collective of Dan Nicklin (Vocals, Percussion), Nate Leavitt (Acoustic Guitars, Vocals), Dan Cederholm (Drums), Derek Feeney (Acoustic Guitar), Chad Raleigh (Multi-Instrumentalist), Jim Collins (Bass, Vocals), Dave Lieb (Piano, Vocals), Matt Odabashian (Organ) is continuing to forge a path forward as “Take It With You” highlights tender melodies and profound prose across this latest nuanced composition that makes something really special to be consumed as just the great, timeless music that it is or as something more meaningful. Either way you choose to interpret it is fine as long as you make the most important choice which is to listen.
“Take It With You” arrives on April 10th and you can prepare by pre-saving when you head here.
