We started this new Singles! review glazing “ROT” from Pretty Addicted and how, upon hearing the track for the first time, the resulting wordflow and will to shoehorn in a post into an already busy posting week was pretty darn big… then life got in the way and we ended up posting next to nothing the following week (Insert sad face emoji right here plz). But we’re back and ready to share some words on the glory that is “ROT”.
We’ve listened through “ROT” quite a bit now and we’re still not sure what we just heard. Evil Electronica? Demonic Drum ‘N’ Bass? Terrifying Trip-Hop? Maybe Madness Music? A genre unto itself, perhaps? Whatever Pretty Addicted is trying to capture with this revamped sound that now features Vicious Precious as the sole songwriter, producer and frontwoman is working with “ROT” filled with enough harrowing harmonies and malicious melodies to keep listeners coming back for helping after helping. Speaking on that and in the Horror theme of it all, like the ending of Gore Verbinski’s version of The Ring, “ROT” keeps going and going and going and going some more just when you may have thought it was all over for some extra noise that ‘s like a sonic cooldown lap and brings a kind of out of the gate perfection as a whole.
