In the time it took us to get our review ready for “Kindawanna”, Boston’s The Chelsea Curve dropped an accompanying video for the track, toured overseas, and is now about ready to release yet ANOTHER new single. So in an effort to preserve what’s left of our procrastinatin’ sanity (But really, life gets in the way and all that jazz), we decided to take what we started for “Kindawanna”, take out all the gobbledygook (Excuses for the delay and the such) and compound it into a mega review of that and upcoming track “Never Come Down”. That cool witchoo?
Anywho! If you didn’t know, The Chelsea Curve is the kind of band where one just wants to scream from the mountaintops about how good they are… or, y’know, type up many a blog post about them as well. “Kindawanna” is no exception to that ruling with a decidedly deliberate Rawk affair from Linda Pardee (Vocals, Bass, Keyboards and Claps), Tim Gillis (Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards and Claps), and Bruce Caporal (Drums, Tambourine and Claps) which still maintains the Mod that the Boston trio is known for and comes off like Josie and the Pussycats meets early The B-52’s meets The Modern Lovers. Infectious and iridescent and we’d expect nothing less.
Speaking of The iconic “Rock Lobster” outfit, upcoming single “Never Come Down” is a little left of center for the band as it opens with a glorious vocal harmony from Gillis and Pardee that brought us to the legendary Cosmic Thing single “Roam” before flittering off into some shimmery sunshine-y shit that’s guaranteed to bring a smile to your mug regardless of your mood. Which, for us at least, seems to be the case whenever The Chelsea Curve is playing.
“Kindawanna” is out now through Rum Bar Records and you can get your copy by heading here or to the stream below. “Never Come Down” releases on August 29th (Also on Rum Bar Records!) and you can head here to get all the links you’ll need to secure that one!
