Let’s make a deal with y’all: We will stop covering The Chelsea Curve in these pages when The Chelsea Curve stops making music worth covering. Which, we guess, is kind of a rigged deal as we don’t foresee that happening anytime soon (Or ever?) especially if their latest single, “Rally ‘Round”, is any indication! So, sorry not sorry?
Anyway, it’s true! Your favorite Boston-based Mods return with an especially GRAND new song which also serves as a preview of the also just released first ever compilation from label The Sound Cove aptly titled The Sound Cove Super Sonic Showcase, Volume 1 (Find it here) that features contributions from similarly ass kickin’ artists like Speedfossil, The Daylilies and Cold Expectations to name a few.
As for the part where The Chelsea Curve chime in? Well, that would be the aforementioned “Rally ‘Round” serving as an impassioned sonic rally cry in support of community and togetherness brought to you in a way that only Linda Pardee (Bass, Vox, Keys), Bruce Caporal (Drums, Vox, Shaker, Tambourine) and Tim Gillis (Guitars, Vox, Keys) can by transmorgifying their Mod base into something slightly more Alt Rawk hitting on some early R.E.M. College Radio vibes mixed with The Beatles-esqueness of it all (Think “Tomorrow Never Knows” amidst Caporal’s hypnotic drumming here).
“Rally ‘Round” is out now by itself on The Sound Cove or, again, as part of The Sound Cove Super Sonic Showcase, Volume 1 also featuring tracks by Happy Little Clouds, Figures On A Beach, Guided By Choices, Glowbox and more which can be found by heading here (Or here if you can’t be bothered with any new noise). For more from The Chelsea Curve, including where to catch them live like as a part of “The Sound Cove Super Sonic Showcase Matinee” happening this weekend (October 19th at The Burren alongside Eric Barlow, Corin Ashley, Happy Little Clouds, Cold Expectations, and Speedfossil), then hit their socials by clicking here, here, or here.
