It’s sounds silly to say (And even sillier to sit here and type) but there’s no denying that there’s a certain sort of electricity surrounding debut single “Lightning Strikes” from Boston’s The Northern Line. With a sound soaked in both Mod and Manchester while clutching to airs of the Boston Rawk scene (Think and amalgamation of The Chelsea Curve and Shiverlane), The Northern Line comes screaming out of the gates with an authenticity that’s got major swag and just oozes cool.
With a drum line from McG that’s more a calculated chaos than a cacophony with leanings towards “Tomorrow Never Knows” during the chorus, “Lightning Strikes” is already something else. Vocalist/guitarist Bilvox adds in verses that are equally divine and sublime amidst an inherent sense that The Northern Line is tapping into something uncharted especially with Mike Ackley’s keys transporting listeners back to the genesis of Psychedelic Rawk as lead guitarist Matthew Scheinman lays on the crunchy guitar riffs and solos accented by a rhythmic flow from bassist Joshh Magee and McG that’s pure refined ’90’s-era Oasis (Definitely Maybe through Be Here Now).
“Lightning Strikes” arrives on October 25th and you can head here now to find out where you can gear it first. For more from The Northern Lights, follow the trail of socials by clicking here or here.
