We like to think that most bands are always evolving so it’s nice that we can always count on The Shallows to come out of left field with each new release being another step forward toward their final form especially on “Murder Your Darlings” which brings a sound that’s unrivaled in the current New England sonic landscape.
With “Murder Your Darlings”, the Somerville-based outfit has once again raised the bar with their brand of lush Electro-based Rawk beginning with perfectly placed percussive beats from Jason Keisch and a swell of synthetic atmosphere at the forefront before Jess Baggia’s endlessly endearing broad vocal passages swoop in like a siren song. Brad Emerson’s guitars alternately shimmer and shriek, undercut by Ben Didsbury’s subtle yet no less spectacular bass rumble to create the perfect modern Electro Post-Punk anthem.
