Singles! Tysk Tysk Task, “My Side”

Album art by Yaritza Colon

If you didn’t know it already, 2024 is looking to be a banner year for Lowell’s Tysk Tysk Task. Hot on the heels of 2022’s release You’re Sorry More full-length and following a stellar run as part of the 2023 Rock & Roll Rumble among many highlights, TTT kicked off 2024 unveiling a new lineup with a new single (“Intolerable” in January) and followed all that soon after with the announcement of a coveted spot as one of the few local artists on this year’s Boston Calling festival happening over Memorial Day weekend (More on that later). Since that flurry of news, the Samantha Hartsel-led outfit has been steadily gigging, spreading the TTT word while still unleashing new music that reveals layer upon layer of a seemingly limitless range of sounds in the broad Tysk Tysk Task music vocabulary.

And they’re back at it again with “My Side” which, in a few words, is barely two minutes of pure sonic bliss. Soaked in an ambient fuzz that’s both hypnotic and heavy, Hartsel’s guitar sounds along with Rick Martel’s own fret work and the rumble that Kyle Griffin brings on the bass intertwine for the buzz that’s so prevalent throughout the track with Ben “Cutty” Cuthbert back behind the kit at Sum Studios on this one (Matt Graber is the current TTT drummer) bringing some magic of his own (For some extra insight, head here) for a combined effort that’s topped by another fiery vocal performance from Hartsel.

“My Side” is out now ahead of the Helium Dreams EP which arrives on May 24th. You can catch Tysk Tysk Task next on the Orange Stage at 2:50 PM EST at Boston Calling on May 26th and while GA may be sold out for the day, you can still get passes for the weekend by heading here. Beyond all that, and for more upcoming live shows and news, follow TTT across their socials by heading here, or here.
