Tysk Tysk Task make the kind of music that you long for. From the moment we first dove into sophomore LP You’re Sorry More we heard the kind of music that hits in such a way so that when it finished we couldn’t help but restart from the beginning to gain more experiences and soak more of the TTT textures in. And the feelings Tysk Tysk Task’s music evokes hasn’t strayed from that path since our first encounters in 2022.
That said, it should come as no surprise that TTT’s new single “Toadstool” stirs that sentiment pot up yet again as the band unveil an updated lineup featuring some old faves (Samantha Hartsel on Vocals & Guitar, Rick Martel on Guitars & Synths) along with some soon-to-be faves (GUT HEALTH/Pure Waves’ Keith Dusoe on Bass, Burp/MOLD’s Joe Milia on drums). As for “Toadstool”? It’s a little bit of a rebirth that’s a more refined offering of something that very well could’ve come off of the aforementioned You’re Sorry More but embracing the pared down Alt Grunge of recent releases. If you need a comparison, think early Toadies mixed with PJ Harvey through a Chelsea Wolfe filter. Hartsel sounds positively ethereal surrounded by a sonic brightness from Dusoe and Milia’s playful rhythm section back and forth with Martel’s (Also of Chainlacing) synths hauntingly hovering over all.
Accompanied by a brand new video, beautifully shot by Asher Thomas (Organizer of Boston’s Tough Luck Fest, also of Nailed Shut) which sees Tysk Tysk Task in their most purest form and communing with nature through performance, and “Toadstool” is pretty much the total package if you’re ever wanted to dip your toes into the enchanted TTT waters but were afraid of where to start.
“Toadstool” is out now and you can get yours at in all the usual spaces found together here or at the stream below.
