Listening through the debut release from Hands Of Attrition is similar to the experience I had when listening to Threat Signal’s Under Reprisal, Lamb Of God’s Ashes of the Wake, or Machine Head’s Burn My Eyes for the first time. And like those albums, Colder Places is just as vicious as it is vital.

I could either completely exhaust myself and do four separate reviews of the albums that represent 2019’s Day Of Doom live showcase at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus Bar heading towards the end of releases in 2020 when most are shifting their focus to year end lists and preview pieces…or just do one MASSIVE review of all the releases. Take a guess where we’re going with this one, won’t you?

Was it ever cool to watch American Idol? Because I did. Fairly religiously. For a spell. Mostly as a weekly excuse to hang with some close friends who were also music nerds but I still did it. And I’m not ashamed of that fact. Thanks for reading.

On their newest release, and final part of the trilogy preceded by The Grey and The Red EP’s, they channel that energy into six unrelenting bursts of unforgettable Metal mayhem.

2020 is a garbage year. We can all agree on that, yeah? And it too owns.
