Y’know what? We could’ve just used this space to talk up the first “official” single from Arrows Of Athena’s forthcoming Daydreaming record (Due April 3rd). We also could’ve been a little more timely and dropped a review of “Comets” right when it released (Sorry ’bout that, SO much “life gets in the way” the past 2 weeks…). We also could’ve not covered any of it. Instead we decided to make a little more work for ourselves because we A) Love to support the scene as much as (in)humanly possible, II) Can’t help making more work for ourselves and C) Couldn’t resist hyping up new Arrows Of Athena music when given the opportunity.

But yeah, there’s TWO new songs from Arrows Of Athena out now. And a new album on the way (Daydreaming! Did we mention that already? It drops April 3rd!) and not surprising at all is that they’re both incredible. What is surprising, and we feel like we mentioned this in previous AOA posts, is the songwriting maturity already inherent when Jac-Lyn Gibson and Scott Lerner get together to make music with songs off impending album numero dos sounding like the stuff of grizzled vets already.

Anyway! New songs!

“Just You And Me” came out of nowhere (A surprise release!) for the first Bandcamp Friday of 2026 and is a passionate mid-tempo number already shedding some of the comparisons earlier recordings had with this one built off Gibson’s refined, robust and soulful vocals and a steady backbeat with some seriously lush instrumentals from Lerner that bring to mind some of the more obscure, yet still badass, stuff done by INXS or U2 or Duran Duran in the mid to late ’90’s.

Then there’s “Comets” which is kind of the coolest sounding AOA track to date, soaring out the gates and really discarding that ’90’s Alternative throwback tag the band have garnered on a song that is a totally timeless take on just great Alternative Pop. Lerner’s guitars and synths are twinkling and expansive as Gibson matches the vibe vocally with an equally compelling performance that’s strong and spacious.

Both “Just You and Me” and “Comets” are out now on Belhaven Records ahead of the upcoming sophomore AOA album Daydreaming (April 3rd!) and you can head here or to the stream(s) below to hear both.
