Hi again, Dave!

We’ve definitely stated before how we feel about surprise announcements (We like ‘em!) so Boston’s Other Brother Darryl dropping news that not only a new single was on the way but that it’s also the first taste of a whole new album to boot that’s arriving later this year (Summer) was, ahem, music to our ears! New music is one thing but the promise of a whole collection of new music in the near future to boot is just *chef’s kiss* (Do the kids still do that one?) for us.

On that note, and regarding the upcoming follow-up to 2025’s Roll Shine Roll full-length we’d like to point out that, while we didn’t actually rank the Local portion of our end-of-the-year lists, OBD’s debut record would definitely have placed in there. Pretty high up, actually, too. And if that vagueposting wasn’t clear enough, we’re just trying to say that expectations for what’s to come from Boston’s pre-eminent authority on Alterna-Folktry (Get it? “Alternative” + “Folk” + “Country”??? Absolutely not a sub-genre) are INCREDIBLY high in this camp.

But anyway!

Okay, so yeah. “Peaceful Alibi” is fantastic. Representing a rebirth of sorts with the upcoming sophomore LP being written in a relatively short time compared to the years that went into the creation of Roll Shine Roll, this new single knocks it out of the park. Precious and profound and bringing all of what you loved about OBD previously to new levels, “Peaceful Alibi” is EXACTLY the kind of song an artist would want to kick off a new album cycle. And we guess we shouldn’t expect anything less from the talent involved which once again includes Dan Nicklin (Vocals, Percussion), Nate Leavitt (Acoustic Guitars, Vocals), Dan Cederholm (Drums), Derek Feeney (Acoustic Guitar), Chad Raleigh (Multi-Instrumentalist), Jim Collins (Bass, Vocals), Dave Lieb (Piano, Vocals), Matt Odabashian (Organ) and of course, Dave Mirabella, who continues to provide Spiritual Guidance from afar.

“Peaceful Alibi” is out on March 6th ahead of OBD’s sophomore album, Hey Yeah Hey, which is currently slated to arrive this Summer (June). For the new single, head here, and then head here or here for the latest on Other Brother Darryl including info on upcoming shows like the one happening on March 27th at Lizard Lounge in Cambridge with Matt Charette and The Truer Sound (Advance tix here) as well as appearances at both this year’s The Town And The City Festival in Lowell (Happening from April 30th-May 2nd with schedules, tickets and more found here) and the New England Americana Festival in June at Medfield’s Bellforge Arts Center (Stay tuned here for the latest on that one).
