Okay, so we have a header for covering videos but we kind of hate it and haven’t come up with something new yet. Then there’s our new “Spooky SZN Sounds” section and while Ruby Grove’s “Crystal Land” is definitely hanging out in the ethereal realm, we’re not quite sure it really fits there either. So with all that said, we decided to do a whole ‘nother “Singles!” post to talk about the new visual accompaniment for the track initially released in September but this time included a fancy “V.2” after it to not only signify that it’s an updated version of our original post but also that it’s a video! Hence the “V”?!?! Or something.
Anyway! In conclusion: There’s a method to our madness… or the inner workings of the RNRF offices are rad. Take your pick.
Now, the video! As the kids say, it’s got aura. Just like the song it represents. You can check out our review of the track here but if you have yet to hear it, know that it embodies a new era for vocalist/keyboardist Melissa Nilles, bassist Cedric Lamour, drummer Reed Farhat, and guitarist Sergio Romero and now, with a new video to boot, fans have a visual feast to represent the ethereal yet still groovy vibes the song sets off.
RG’s Melissa Nilles is the star in front of and behind the camera having directed the video as well as being your guide throughout the clip which is a wondrous and spiritual thing of beauty to witness featuring performance clips of the band and various storyline moments with Linnea Herzog, Meredith Blankenship, Pascaline Mary, Sarah Luna, Andromeda (Ann Tomblin), and the dancers House of Andromeda Belly Dance Troupe along for the trip. With additional creative direction and videography work from Susan Cantrell, Herzog, and Blankenship, Nilles has truly crafted the perfect visual guide for what Ruby Grove represents with this song especially as the gorgeous lighting bathes the performers in a haunting glow akin to the moon shining down for the outdoor scenes while the live sequences are captured in a way that the viewer feels like they’re actually in the crowd. And having seen Ruby Grove live, we can attest that this here is a pretty on point representation of the magical experience it is to see the band in that kind of setting.
Both the single and video for “Crystal Land” are out now! You can peep the pretty moving pictures by heading below or head here to find out where you can secure your copy digitally.
