Look, we were initially just going to share on our socials that Tension Scale had unleashed this baller video for “Green Sky” off their debut EP but it was such a killer treatment from such a killer band that we had to get a little wordier than what you’d want in a social media post.
Anyway! The song, like all off of It’s Not Them, takes inspiration from The ‘Burbs (The movie, not the show) so once again we implore you to watch the cult classic if you haven’t already and we will wait here for you to finish before we continue. It’d be in everyone’s best interest and just all around beneficial for your mental health in general. Tom Hanks in a pre-Gump role! Francine from American Dad! as the buxom bride to the bumbling Mark Rumsfield! That guy from Children Of The Corn (Courtney Gains)… kinda acting like he’s still in COTC, but sillier!
If you watched, we applaud you. If you didn’t, your loss. But it’s time to talk TS regardless! Remember those videos of the ’80’s or ’90’s where the lead single from a soundtrack would feature one of the main stars interacting with the band with scenes from the flick incorporated into the clip? Well, you definitely won’t see Arnie as the T-800 stalking Axl Rose and G’N’R a la “You Could Be Mine” but the “Green Sky” video treatment written and directed by Guitarist Troy for sure takes a lot of that aesthetic to mind.
While it would be rad to see Ray, Ricky and the gang rollin’ up to a local Punk show (See! If you watched the movie you’d get the reference!), the way Troy has incorporated and honored The ‘Burbs in “Green Sky” is pretty special with spooky scenes interspersed with Tension Scale (The aforementioned Troy, Vocalist LoWreck, Bassist Jon, Drummer Jay) ragin’ on the stage before culminating in a bloody finale as the two storylines collide.
“Green Sky” is out now as is the debut release from Tension Scale.
