Beckie Margaret, Chapter 3: When last we left our fearless heroine in the pages of Rock And Roll Fables she had just unleashed her second single, “Divine Feminine”, on the masses (Read our review here) which continued the sonic story on the road towards her highly anticipated debut full-length. We pick up late this March with the sultry soliloquy that is “FF” which gives listeners even more insight into a larger wondrous world and Margaret’s broad musical palette.
With “FF”, Margaret is still on the Trip-Hop, ahem, trip for a glistening track that’s like the height of late ’90’s Massive Attack and this weird kind of throwback to the scores to some legendary ’80’s noir flick (The subtle guitar flourishes by regular collaborator Daryl Tattoo at the end especially bring out this particular vibe). Bringing even more Soul and some subtle R&B flair with her breathy delivery, Margaret’s voice pulses and swells just as the synths do into a grand crescendo with drummer Rees Broomfield laying out some steady grooves to keep the overall mystical feel of “FF” grounded in our earthly plane of existence and enhancing the latest stellar entry in the continuing evolution of Beckie Margaret.
“FF” releases on March 26th through Cool Thing Records and you can stream or download it then when you head here or here. For more on Beckie Margaret, follow the trail of social media by clicking here, here, or here.
